I hate to give Grandmas such a low score because I think they are the reason that Canal Park exists like it does today. This place was probably the go to for a long time (and probably still is) but it isn't for me.
My family and I go here every time we are in the Duluth area (at least 2x per year) and have NEVER had a bad experience. The servers are always great and the food is exceptional. Super friendly to dietary preferences, and the staff is very knowledge about the menu. I HIGHLY recommend the wild rice burger!!!!
Food was amazing. We got three burgers with fries n sweet potato fries, it was all worth the 40 min wait to get in. Service was friendly and it didn't take forever for our food even though they were packed. Would go again! So good! Plus the decor is amazing
If you like dealing with Canal Park crowds and are used to mediocre food, this is the place for you.
Actually I will take back the mediocre food comment because there isn't any well made food in Canal Park (Besides Northern Water Smokehaus) So that makes Grandmas solidly average for the area, which I guess means mediocre.
We may not be back and that's too bad because we had a great experience here at our previous visit during Oktoberfest.
Food was good, server was bad and it wasn't because he had too many tables. It was because he was young and no one bothered to train him on how to treat customers in a personable, friendly and engaging manner so that they want to leave a good tip. This server acted like we were bothering him and that he was way too busy to help us or check to see how our food was, or if we needed anything.
They have outdoor seating which is in an awesome location, but not much of it. My favorite area in this place is the upstairs bar, just seems much quieter up there.
The Chicken Wild Rice soup is good! I always get that when I'm here, not because the rest of the menu isn't good, but because soup is the way to go when it's cold up here! I've also had the Wild Rice Burger here, which is delish also! The employees are always so kind, even when it gets busy. (Kudos to them!) They also have a store inside the restaurant with lots of different and unique souvenirs. My go to restaurant in Duluth!
