I am a graduate of Duluth Business University and my education and experiences there are invaluable. They offer small class sizes, have excellent faculty and support staff, and their career services people are there to assist you beyond graduation. I would highly recommend DBU at everyone!
I was very happy with the education that I received. The courses were much more demanding than I ever dreamed they would be, but this was a positive in my book. They were very thorough, and I learned so much more than a person could ever learn by being trained "on the job." I was hired full-time in a clinic to coincide with my externship course, and I stayed with that clinic for 7 years post-graduation. I felt that my education prepared me very well for being a certified veterinary technician in a clinic setting.
Teachers are great but financial aid advisor is a joke. It is a crazy expensive school and they need to have someone that is willing to help each student be able to pay. I called Gloria multiple times and emailed several times as well and I was ignored. Credits don't transfer and the school is just not worth the money. Please save your money and go to a better school right away instead of wasting time and money like I did before transferring.
I am proud to be both a graduate of, and an instructor for, Duluth Business University!
I am reviewing both as a DBU graduate and as a current adjunct instructor. I started attending DBU in Fall of 2005 in the Veterinary Technology Program, and graduated 3 years later in Fall of 2008. I started out part-time, and then eventually went full-time, having had no previous transferable credits. I had researched all of my options extensively, and ultimately chose DBU. My other options at the time were to attempt to do online courses with a different organization and have a clinic "sponsor" me, but I felt that I would get a much better education in this field by attending courses on-campus. The only other on-campus choices were more than two hours away. As an adult in my 30s and a home-owner, attending classes over two hours away did not make sense for me.
Spendy and not much of a challenge. However, the job placement program is awesome. Would give that part a 5.
I am a current DBU student and I have never felt more at home. It is a wonderful community with amazing teachers, staff and administration is always friendly and helpful. They are always willing to help students in need. I love DBU! Highly recommended it to anyone looking for a degree in Medical Assisting or Vet Tech! You will love it here.
I was then given an opportunity to become an adjunct instructor at DBU. Since I love education and I loved being a student, I decided to try teaching. I had originally thought that being a certified veterinary technician was my calling, but over the past two years, I have discovered that being a vet tech instructor is my TRUE calling. I adore teaching here at DBU. I love how accepting the school and this program is of people of all ages and all different walks of life. For those that choose this path, and are willing to put in the work to succeed, the school and instructors have a wonderful track record of working with these students as much a possible to make sure that they succeed. Hands-on class sizes are kept small so that each student can get the personalized help that is so important when learning technical skills.
