Can you really review a bridge? Yes. Yes, you can. The Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge is the city's iconic landmark. There are many ways to enjoy it. You can enjoy the view from a distance, during the day or at night, watching it lift for passing ships. You can walk out on the piers. You can cross it onto the peninsula. You can enjoy the view from restaurants nearby, such as Grandma's rooftop dining. You can take the Lakewalk. No matter how you enjoy it, spending time near the bridge is always a memorable occasion when you're visiting Duluth.
Bottom line, if you've never been to Duluth before and you're planning on a day trip here, the pier/left bridge should definitely be on your list of things to do.
Unique bridge and great place to just take a walk. While visiting Duluth, we would get coffee and wander down here each morning. Can't beat the pretty views of the lake stretching out before you. If you're lucky, you'll catch one of the BIG ships coming into the bay and get to see the bridge deck being raised for them to pass under. We also saw them raise it partway for sailboats. Also, a nice walk out onto the breakwaters to the lighthouses. A must see if you're in the area!
I really like coming down here to the canal when I am in Duluth I can spend the whole day here and watch the ships come in and out. They have a great Maritime Museum and they have a couple little food carts that go up and down and sell their Wares. There is a few gift shops along the way here it is definitely a great place to stop.

Duluth is a very cool city with plenty of fun things to do, and coming to the pier is one of them. Yes, this place is selfie-central and a bit of a tourist trap, but it's still very cool watching the ships come in and the bridge being lifted.
