Price: A bit more on the spendy side
BEST Italian food in Duluth! Limited seating, so make your reservations way in advance. Or just show up and hope they can squeeze you in. It's worth the wait for the view and great service. OMG the featured layer cake paired with an espresso for dessert brings a tear of joy to my eye. Foodies will understand.
Food: The food was amazing, offering a delicious array of Italian dishes. They had something for everyone and even had options for those who are vegan or vegetarian. Their creme brulee is amazing so save room for desert.
Service: The server was kind and happy and genuinely seemed to want to give us the best dining experience possible.
Atmosphere: A small, beautiful restaurant furnished tastefully. The also have a dining room in the back with a nice view of the lake.
This is not a large place, which is part of its charm, so if you want a view, you are going to have to time your visit or get lucky. The wait staff is knowledgeable and I overheard them being very helpful describing the choices to first time guests. My wife and I simply had fun eating there.
This restaurant is the most authentic European dining you can find in northern Minnesota. They boast a great wine selection, and helpful wait staff. I haven't had an espresso anywhere that reminded me of Italy until I came here.
I always think of Va Bene as being a newer restaurant in Duluth, but it's actually been here for over 10 years now! It's one of my favorite restaurants. The food has always been delicious, and the space is cozy. If you can, get seated in the enclosed balcony (which stays nice and warm even in the winter) for amazing views of Lake Superior while you eat.
This is just a great interesting place - been there a long time and has not changed since I was there 10 years ago. The menu is interesting, with a great Italian version of a BLT, and a good choice of wines. We came a little later in the PM and found a table on the porch overlooking the lake.
