I have been trying to reach the Hibbing SSA office for two days and only get a busy signal. I then tried the Duluth SSA office for help and get a recording that all lines are busy and leaves no options to leave a message or hold - just tells you to call back. I call the 800 number and they say I need to contact my local office at the numbers I already have that don't work. What a HORRIBLE system!!!
Lovely folks, one of the kinder government experiences I've had.
Cut me off disability (SSI) because I was unpaid executor for my mother. They said I could take money from her estate acct but never did. Appeals can take a year. You'd think they'd need evidence you did something wrong, but not them.
I went in person to get social security started, and it was fine. I called them today, and got through with one phone number, but not the 3563 number. The web site gave instructions about withholding federal tax, but nothing about state. withholding. You'd think you could withhold for both by going online, but you would be wrong. And, you aren't told you can't withhold state taxes, unless you actually ask. But the person on the phone was able to tell me that right away.
And you guys close at 12pm why...?
Both people at the front were very nice and helpful! Painless experience, their website told me everything I needed so I was organized and ready to go. They answered all my questions and directed me to further information.
